Drakensang with Linux – the easiest way

Today I’m blogging in english to allow most people in this world to follow my way to installing DSA Drakensang on linux.

I run an amd64 Gentoo with

CFLAGS=“-O2 -pipe -march=nocona“

CHOST=“x86_64-pc-linux-gnu“

After some hours of web-searching and trial-and-errors (quite many errors), I stumbled upon a tool called „PlayOnLinux“ (PoL). PoL is dedicated to support players with installing windows games (and other software) on linux using wine.

The list of supported games is really worth a look before trying to do all the hassle on your own.

Drakensang is not supported officially but there is a script written by Dominik Schürmann (http://www.dominikschuermann.de/) that takes care of everything needed to run Drakensang.

Installation of PoL is explained at http://www.playonlinux.com/en/download-gentoo.html (Others: http://www.playonlinux.com/en/download.html) which is at least for Gentoo quite easy.

After that follow Dominiks explanations on DTP-Forums or for those not capable of reading german go to PoL-Forums.

After installation finishes: ENJOY!
